I am so confused. How is a $300 request to use someone else's phone, ignored by the police? Should that not have been investigated? Who was she calling? Why was she so undisturbed when telling Angel that Matt was dead? This just keeps getting stranger and more frustrating.

Not to defend the investigation, since there seems to be ample evidence of possible issues with it, but we don't really know what the police investigated or looked into. For all we know, they extensively interrogated Brenda about the call, got call records from the phone company, even spoke to the person that she talked to and know exactly what it was all about. They didn't necessarily need extensive interviews with Danielle to get to the bottom of it.
Still, it's obviously very troubling to consider the possibilities surrounding her actions. Hopefully she'll choose to set the record straight about this.
If they didn't follow up on it extensively, this information becoming more public would certainly seem to give them a powerful motivation to do so now.

it’s easy to say in hindsight that Danielle should have immediately checked her phone but at the time I’m sure she was just in shock. I’m wondering why the police didn’t look into this further if they haven’t already. It’s pretty clear to me at this point that Angel’s mom arranged a hit on Matt. Angel might have been involved too. Yeah, not checking the phone is just negligent. Either the cops subpoenaed the phone records and Danielle does not know, the cops completely missed the phone piece (which would be a total screw up), or Danielle is making this up. Either way, maybe the phone company still has records of calls in and out. Just because she deleted it from the phone does not mean the record isn’t there. Also, sorry, but if I was Danielle I would have been all over that number/phone call. I would not be waiting for the cops to ask about it, I would have been calling the phone company to get that number and sending it to the cops. How very very strange all around. Mind blowing.

Im responding to why I was not more interested in who Brenda called on my phone. It was around 1am, I had my newborn baby in my arms and this lady knocks on my door shouting that Angel was shot. I was in complete shock. It was right in the beginning of that night when she asked. I just gave her my phone. At the time, I never put her as suspect #1. I know that it was a pay as you go phone, I wish I could remember the number so I could give the police everything. My sister tried to look on google to see if she could find my old numbers but as embarrassing as it is to say I was not working and my credit was not great so I went through a number of prepaid phones and numbers. If the police had asked for anything Im sure I gave them everything I could. I dont remember looking at the number after bc I had my 4 kids, Matt's sister's children and Matt's middle child in my home. I was trying to take care of 7 children, make coffee for everyone who came in and out of my home through the night and morning hours, knowing that his poor family had to sit and wait for answers so my phone was the last thing on my mind. My home became the makeshift police station and the closest place that the family could get to the home. I do not know why Brenda chose my home if she had already been by the house. I know that she said the youngest child was at the Lawson home and he was ok so I assumed she had been by there. I tried my best to keep everyone comfortable that morning. I never thought that I would soon sit and think about all of the odd events that had happened and come to the conclusion that Brenda and Angel were involved. It is only my opinion but the more I think about everything and the more I learn about the timeline the more I wonder if Matt was already dead before the 911 call was made. I feel Angel's wound was just one of many faux pieces of evidence put together after Hannah was asleep at the neighbors for the first time, after Naomi was asleep for sometime and whoever was hired to do the killing would not wake her and Josiah was too young to be affected. It's odd that someone would "open fire", as Angel has said, then allow her to pick up a child and leave. The cops were there in 4mins. How is it possible for Matt to put up that much of a fight, as the defensive wounds show, the killer slaughtered him, left no evidence in something that brutal and left the home without anyone seeing anything all in 4 minutes...... I know I got off topic about my phone but I think that Brenda paid someone, not professional bc a pro is in and out and there is no reason for the overkill, the murder probably happened an hour before, giving Brenda,Angel and the killer time to pick up shells, wipe anything the killer touched and then Angel had to tough out a shot in the wrist (a nurse herself would know where she could be hit an not permenently damaged), the killer leaves before Angel runs across the street with Josiah in her arms and thats it. She probably didnt think that it would take SWAT over 100 minutes to get Naomi out but thank God that child didnt see her dad like he was left. I heard that she was normally a light sleeper but I also was told by someone that there was benedryl in her system. Just my thoughts on what may have happened but I am so sorry that I did not realize that it was an inside job from the beginning. I doubt myself A LOT like when Brenda was just talking to me and mentioned her boyfriend was a millionaire by the name of Bruton Smith.. I thought I MUST have heard her wrong but it turns out that Im not the only one she may have told that to. If I could go back or go under hypnosis and relive every detail of what she said to me I would. Matt was a wonderful man and I can still see his dad's face when their car pulled in and Brenda felt it was her right to not let them come inside and talk to an officer but to run to the vehical and blurt out that Matt was dead. That is 1 thing I won't ever forget.
