Hi there,
I am new to the group but have been listening to the podcasts for quite awhile. I actually worked with someone who knew the family and went to church with them. I clearly remember her telling me this story when it happened and how bazaar the whole thing was and still is. I would ask her regularly if she had heard anything new and of course there was never anything new.
Last night when I was listening to some past episodes I started wondering what bad things did Matt do? Could he have had a gambling problem? If this has been mentioned previously I apologize as I have not read all of the past threads but did try and search for the word and it did not come up.
Gambling came to mind because of the repeated mention of financial concerns, as well as the reference Matt made to his friend just a month before about some mistakes he had made. Then when I heard the nurse who worked with him mention that he always had "a game on" in an empty room so he could keep up with whatever sport was on.......it really made me wonder. It could be that he was just a sports nut or maybe it was ACC & NCAA tournament time and he was obsessed like my family is or maybe something else.
I am really looking forward to the next podcast tomorrow! I enjoy your work Steve & Freddie!

In terms of “bad things” Matt did, the only activities I have multiple sources claiming he had been involved in is drug use, and perhaps light drug sales, in his teens/early 20s. Among people I’ve talked to, there is a divergence of opinion/point of view in terms of how deeply Matt was involved in this, but everyone is pretty much in agreement that he completely turned his life around in his early/mid-twenties. Aside from rumors, and I’ve never heard anything about him being involved in drugs at the time of his murder. Your gambling idea is interesting... weirdly enough, it’s never really been something I considered before. I can safely say, in the last year and half, no one has ever made any comments about Matt having an interest in gambling. But then again, as you’ll learn in the coming episode, I sometimes come across key information late in the game. People I spoke with early on, for hours and hours and hours, left a hell of a lot out.

Wow....Now I cannot wait to hear the next episode. I thought that the few people who were there that early morning or ones who knew the Stewarts knew almost everything but you are very amazing at this Freddie. Great job for trying to do what you can to help bring the evil person who orchastrated to justice. I hope this rattles the guilty parties cages. It isnt fair that someone lost their life so violently yet the family would rather it be kept quiet? Id want everyones help.
