Episode 2 In the woods. In the audio files from the church website the pastor is giving a talk near the six year anniversary of Matts murder.
At about 20.26 mins in The pastor mentions talking with Matt on the way back from the beach about their marriages. He says he’ll never forget a conversation in the car talking about their marriages - followed by some nervous laughter - he (Matt) was talking about how difficult his wife was - more uneasy laughter - but of the deep love he had for her.
How was she difficult?
Does anyone else recall them having marriage problems? And why does the pastor seem uneasy when he mentions it? Why does he mention it - was it common knowledge among those who were hearing his talk/sermon?

I think it was just Matt being newly married and coming to the realization that all women are difficult, especially if you’re a nice guy like Matt.

I picked up on this too... they had been married for at least four years at the time Matt died. I don’t recall hearing of any problems with the marriage.

They seemed like the picture perfect family on the outside which usually means that a show is being put on. I know bc I grew up like that. Angel was nice but Matt was more outgoing, talkative, he took the kids to the neighborhood birthday parties. Angel was always sweet to my family and I but she seemed like she may have been working too hard as a nurse and a perfect mom. They also were into everything that had to do with their church. I know that is how Angel and Matt met but I have a feeling that she was difficult as in putting being serious as her number 1 and letting loose with the neighbors and having fun as her second or maybe last priority. I never heard Hannah tell my daughter that her parents argued. Maybe that was the difficulty......we never know what goes on behind closed doors.
