After listening to the podcast twice now, I believe the focus going forward should be fully on the police investigation. Freddie needs to partner with a investigative journalist, the people from making a murderer (haha) or someone that has experience that can help him gain access or get the ball rolling for the Mooresville PD to open up this case to outside eyes and answer some really tough questions.
It has become very obvious to me, that the MPD have more information that could help, but more importantly, they obviously botched the initial investigation and won't turn over hardly anything for fear of their numerous missteps being exposed. There seems to be countless mistakes made from what I have gathered listening to the podcast. If they aren't going to do anything then turn it over to someone who will.
Finally, I believe....
Angel knows who did it. They let her leave and she/her family is intimidated to expose out of fear.
Who wouldn't want the killer to be brought to justice? You move on from a breakup or someone dying of cancer. You don't move on from a family member being murdered without justice. Threatening Freddie says everything we need to know about "someone" knowing more than they are saying...

This is great, Batman. I like the way you are thinking. I wonder if an investigative reporter from Mooresville would take the case on, and pursue the poor investigation, and lack of information released. Could there be a massive cover-up, or corruption? It wouldn't be the first time there was corruption in the MPD.
Just think there is a murderer out there that has gotten away with a serious crime. They could still be living in Mooresville for all we know....

I haven't seen anything I would consider evidence of a cover-up or corruption, but this case did happen at a time when Mooresville PD was having issues with the way cases were being handled. It's certainly quite possible that there were early mistakes made that have not been recovered from and they now feel that it's in their own best interest to not have the investigative record reviewed by outsiders.
Personally, if I were an investigating officer, I would want to have as much help as possible in solving this crime. It doesn't look good to have a case still open and without any apparent progress for 10 years unless it would look even worse if people were to have access to all the details and see that there are big problems with the case.
Then again, the same could be said for family members who appear to be content to let the case remain unsolved rather than screaming for justice at every opportunity. For ANYONE to prefer silence over activity in this situation is mind boggling to me.

If mistakes were made in the investigation hopefully they learned from them as they moved forward. I do know the pd has went through a lot of turn over in the last 9 years in the whole department including a new chief. If mistakes were made I would think they still would have enough for some type of arrest and conviction.
