Some say DNA was found at the scene others say that no DNA found. If by chance DNA was found, what about using Genetic Genealogy? Watched an episode of 20/20 last night where a 20+ year old cold case was solved in days using Genetic Genealogy! Incredible! May we all suggest this is something MPD (if DNA was found) use to once and for all Solve this Case. I went to and graduated Nursing School with Matt. So very sad that he lost his life this way and disturbing to say the least that his case has not been solved

I have been thinking about this. If the MPD collected evidence would it still be in evidence, or since the SBI was working in this case with the MPD, would local police have to turn everything over? Or would they keep things in their evidence as well. Hopefully some DNA exists somewhere espexially with the amount of blood that was everywhere. You would think if the local detectives have access to the evidence from that night, they would be getting this case closed.

I don't know the answer to this, but I'm assuming that the MPD don't have their own crime labs and would probably pass everything over to another agency or organization for analysis. They'd then get back anything that was left after testing. But I could be totally wrong about that.

IF there was an "epic struggle" for Matthew's life there would be DNA transfer onto his body. I am thinking skin under fingernails, hair, blood.
