I remember hearing, on here or somewhere else that some of the family wanted to do Unsolved Mysteries, but others in the family stopped them from moving forward. I don't know how to reach out to these places, but would be interesting if the crowd could get some national attention to this case....

Has anyone tried to get Kelly Siegler from Cold Case to hear all of this?

Has Freddie or anyone tried to contact/interview the district attorney? I know he has tried local and state police.

I’ve just sent the following email to all addresses mentioned in the OP.
Good evening,
I am writing to you in connection with the murder of Matthew Stewart in Mooresville in 2009.
I recently had my attention drawn to the case by a series of podcasts by Freddie Wilson, who has attempted to raise awareness of the case and investigate the events surrounding the Matthew’s murder.
Having read and listened to many of the details, what seems astounding to me are the number of holes in the investigation and evidence. There can be only two reasons for this; one being that the murder wasn’t dealt with in the correct manner in the first place, and the second being that law enforcement are withholding information on the case. If the latter is true, on what basis are they withholding such information?
Although the case is still open, it appears to me that it has been very much forgotten by all but a handful of people.
Ten years is far too long for any crime to go unsolved, let alone such a brutal event in which a young man inexplicably lost his life.
It is surely now time for the murder to be reinvestigated or passed on to another authority who can be given the chance to succeed where the Mooresville PD failed.
If this is not an option, it is high time that any and all information held by the police relating to this case is released into the public domain where it can be actively used to potentially bring Matthew’s killer to justice.
I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter and would be interested to know what you plan to do to bring the case closer to a conclusion.
Kind regards,
XXXXXXXXXXXX

I’ve had a couple of replies to my emails. Gary West: “Mr. XXXXXXXXXX, Thank you for your email. I do understand your concerns and we all want to find the Perpetrator who committed this horrible crime. This cannot go unpunished. We have a new acting Police Chief so he is just coming up to speed. I know it is still an active investigation so we cannot reveal all the details that we know. Because of this, I have copied our Public Information Officer, Kim Sellers, who can review this and provide the detail that detail we can share by law, on this case. Yours in service, Gary West Commissioner At Large Town of Mooresville, NC Cell: 704.799.4216 gwest@MooresvilleNC.gov www.ci.mooresville.nc.us”Barbara Whittington: “I agree with everything you said. I have talked to the current acting Police Chief. He has assured me is very interested in solving Matt’s death. I was a personal friend of Matt’s family and will follow up with the Chief!!”

I got a reply as well from Gary West. I do appreciate the response. Here is the reply: I am a Liaison to our Police Department and have been briefed on this case by our Police Chief. I understand how frustrating this is. Having been involved in a similar case when I was in Law Enforcement, I see the affect it has on loved ones and friends. Please let me assure you that this case continues to remain a priority for the department. We continue to remain in constant contact with the family and continue to keep them apprised of any developments. We are also working hand-in-hand with the State Bureau of Investigation to continue to follow up on leads and utilize current technology. Our investigators have also conferred with colleagues who specialize in these type of Investigations. Please feel free to contact me anytime. How is it the MPD said the SBI messed up the chain of evidence, which prevented them from proceeding, and a New Police Chief- maybe you're not up on current affairs, but he was splayed all over the news as a racist who fired white Trained Policeman and replaced them with black men who had no training at all. It wasn't until the aforementioned fired White Policemen filed suit that he got rid of the untrained blacks and restored the white ones. The Town of Mooresville had put the chief on leave when the news got all over it, but when it was undone- THEY PUT HIM BACK IN OFFICE. You are familiar with the adage "Fool me once- shame on you. Fool me twice -shame on me" are you not? I don't know all the people on the Town Commissioners, but I do know 2 that made their fortunes through illegal gambling and drug dealing and 3 I've known since grade school that are morons.
