Matt was involved with so many children. Has any one compared his patients with church members who were in his care? In his professional life he may have seen or reported abuse allegations. Matt put children first, and i havent seen any investigations into this area. If any one especially involved with church was threatened by Matt maybe reporting "healing room" or other abuse. I can see this as outcome.

This post was originally in the Divorce thread, but I've moved it here because I thought it deserved to be it's own conversation. I think this is a great point... we don't know a lot about what Matt would see from day to day in his job working with children. It's quite possible that he could encounter evidence of abuse and be required to report it. Honestly, we don't really know since we don't have a lot of contacts who interacted with him daily at the hospital. As for the healing room aspect... I'm starting to think it might be a red herring. It's an unusual place by most people's standards but I don't think anything going on in there would have dealt with the kind of thing you're suggesting. Unless someone knows otherwise? Matt being aware of something going on that shouldn't have been is certainly a motive that needs to be looked into from every possible angle. Likewise, him trying to get assistance for someone who others might not want to see get help could also be a motive. Great post, percocet10!

I used to be a nurse, and yes, it’s required that suspected child abuse be reported. It’s done in a very private manner between hospital personnel and police . I highly doubt this argument would hold water. Matt’s name would have never been mentioned to the family in any capacity .
