Is there any possibility this was a neighbor that simply snuck back to his or her house? Did the family have friends in the neighborhood? Any personal connections? Also, I’m sure we don’t know this because of the documents we don’t have access to because this is an open investigation but assuming this timeline is completely wrong, could this have been set up to look like a quick home invasion? The timeline doesn’t seem to allow for such a clean crime scene (lacking finger prints, hair, dna of any kind, or ammunition shells), and such a swift escape, also not leaving behind evidence of where the killer went. Their would’ve been a blood trial in the grass, with Matt putting up so much of a fight, wouldn’t the killer also be at least slightly injured? I mean did he change clothes before he left as to not leave a trial? All this takes time he or she did not have. Nothing makes sense.

Me either until hearing the timeline and how they never found a trace of the killer.

Makes you wonder if the suspect or suspects were wearing some kind of jumpsuit or coveralls that could be taken off and possibly wearing booties on their feet so they didn’t leave shoe prints. Just a lot of things don’t add up and honestly the more that everyone keeps talking is good there have been numerous theories brought up and opening people to new thoughts. Everyone keep up the great work!

All of these are great thoughts and theories. Working through possibilities is always a way to open up new ways of thinking, even if the initial ideas don't seem very practical.
Keep in mind, though... all of the stuff we've heard about there being no casings and no DNA and only one partial fingerprint... that may not be the complete story. The police get to decide what information they release and they do not have any obligation to correct rumors or people's misconceptions. Only the investigators know for sure.

So, Does anyone have ideas or specific steps that we should take to get the Mooresville Police Department do something with this case. Or, how do we take it to the next level? Anybody got ideas? Contacts?

Contacts? One thing I have thought about, do fresh eyes need to look at this case? Does the case need higher authority to review it? The local police department reports to the town board of commissioners. You can contact your elected commissioner to have them push the police to put the resources it deserves onto this case. I have also seen somewhere that there is a program that the town can request, from either the state or federal government, that will provide investigators that are specialized in unsolved murder case closure. I apologize that I don't have more info on that, but that may be a starting point. Hopefully this podcast, and conversation, has helped push this back into the spotlight. I feel that it is now time, for the mass of followers, to hit the streets and spread the word about the podcast, the case, and contacting your town commissioner.

Great ideas... it's definitely time to start putting local pressure on some fresh eyes to assist the police. They have other things to work on, I'm sure, since it's a small town with a small force, so it's understandable that they may not have the resources to start over at the beginning and look at everything again, but someone should! I wouldn't know how to get in touch with a commissioner if I tried... so maybe we can generate a post that tells people how to do this?

******************** 80,000 people now in Mooresville...not that small anymore. Yet, still small enough that anyone who lived in town and knew Matt would know their commissioners, one of them was in high school with Matt I think. I don’t live there anymore and could still tell you who they are. In addition...The Mooresville Tribune should be all over this. Shame on them.

Yeah, this should get it's own life as an announcement to everyone in the forum. I'll try to work on that tomorrow. Raising awareness among the people who can actually do something about it is clearly the way to go!

Raising awareness among the people who can actually do something about it is clearly the way to go! I've posted a new announcement thread with how to do this. I'll send it out to everyone on the forum by mass mailing later today. Sorry for the delay in getting to it!

Guns : 9 mm gun, with hollow point bullets, which would expand, flatten out and tear apart to do more damage. My husband says if it was a 9 mm gun and our neighbors shot one inside their house, and doors and windows were closed, or if a fan or air conditioner was on, you’d probably not hear it. I couldn’t find a description of the other gun. So not sure what to say about it.

BINGO. Just found something else of interest. Any time a supposed witness changes their story, it’s another red flag. I found this article talking about the other supposed serial killer in the general vicinity around the same time as Matt’s shooting. Note when Angela DESCRIBES THE KILLER IN THEIR BEDROOM. www.wbtv.com/story/10667146/mooresvilles-possible-connection-to-the-gaffney-serial-killer/She says he was WEARING A MASK on his face in this article. If he was wearing a mask, HOW did she give them a composite sketch ? HHHMMMMMmmmm.........
