Did you know Matt personally? Maybe work with him or have him as a coach? Share your memories with us... good and bad.
While it's possible that this was a random event, there's also reason to think that Matt was an intentional target... leaving us to ask the question: Why?

I worked at the same hospital as a unit Secretary. I was on 3rd shift and he was on first. So I would see him in the halls or the break room. He was always smiling, spoke to everyone, and a bit of a prankster. Many times in the halls you would hear one of the nurses or cna's saying his name because he just pulled some kind of prank with the foam alcohol hand cleaners or something. Good humor pranks that made everyone laugh. I never got personal with him because we were on different shifts, but from others I worked with, they all spoke highly of him. My manager had the unpleasant task of calling all the workers to tell them what had happened to Matt...I will never forget the call. It was heartbreaking on many levels...I still cannot believe this has not been solved😢

Everyone said that he was squeaky clean in the last few years of his life, but that he had some minor things when he was younger. The confusing part about this whole cas, obviously, is why anyone would want him dead. That seems to be the only reason the random killer theory still hangs on... there’s just no motive that’s ever been put forward publicly.

I knew Matt from Highschool and I also hung out with him he summer before he met Angel. In Highschool he was not a saint but he also was not involved with people that would come back 15 years later and murder him. Matt was loved by everyone that knew him, I attended his funeral and it was packed to the point that people were standing. I honestly feel that the person that is responsible for this is someone very close to him. I just hope this podcast brings some light back on this case. I feel like Mooresville PD needs to turn this over and get fresh eyes on this.
