I was watching an episode of Dateline where some friends of the murdered person went to the State AG because the local police were not questioning a State Patrol Officer who they believed was surely involved in the murder. This was after 1 year had passed with no arrests. The AG investigated the case himself and the State Patrol Officer was convicted. The question is what would stop us as a group from contacting the AG on this case. We all know the MPD is not investigating this case. With all the press on the MPD perhaps the AG would help on getting this case moved to a state cold case investigator or closed so the files can be opened for private investigation.

Not a bad idea. If not the AG, then someone. I’m so afraid with the podcast ending that the pressure will be off if we don’t somehow get this into the hands of someone that will push past the hesitancy of the family and police to actually try to get justice for Matt. Freddie has done a great job with getting Matt’s story back in the spotlight... we have to figure out how to continue the momentum.

You are absolutely right. It’s an election year. Time to make people do their jobs.

I think it is worth a try Freddie. I would also love to see one of the true crime shows pick up this case.

Got a call from a TV producer a few weeks back from a well known network. The producer was interested in a doing an episode on the subject of Matt’s murder for an existing TV series about cold cases.
Unfortunately, though our initial talk was enthusiastic, there was serious concern on their part about the family’s likely lack of willingness to participate. They said network execs likely wouldn’t move forward on anything unless either an immediate family member or the police department/SBI participated.
I told the producer that, if need be, I would rally as much energy as I could at the local level to DEMAND Mooresville PD participate... at the very least, just relaying on camera what is already clearly decipherable from publicly available documents.
The bad news is that, though he seemed super interested when we spoke and, unlike all my other similar conversations with similar networks, HE reached out to ME, he has not returned any of my emails in the last few weeks....
