I have just completely binged all the episodes on a road trip. The Night Shift Supervisor stated that Matt worked on the day prior to his murder, and the comment was made that she was likely the last person to see him, besides his family. He clocked out at the end of his shift and was gone around 7:30 PM. If that information is accurate, how was he hosting a BBQ at his house? Someone has to be mixing up the dates right? The supervisor sounded certain of her dates. Or did they have the BBQ while he was at work? If that is how that went down, then I am even more convinced my theory is on the right track.
Here is my theory:
I believe the wife knows who killed him, and it has something to do with that church/cult. She would have certainly had to let the intruder in the house, and never would have left that 3 year old in there, unless she already knew the child would not be harmed. Matt did something against that church, or he knew some incriminating information about that sketchy pastor. I think someone needs to look into that vacation that Matt and Angel supposedly took with the pastor and his wife a week or so before he was murdered. What happened? What did Matt see or find out?
He comes back from that trip and asks a friend for help to get a gun, and then he is dead shortly after that?
There are too many links to that pastor and that church, for all of that to be a coincidence. The bat-shit crazy mother was pre-positioned the help her daughter when it all went down. They all knew it and they are still afraid of the minions of that church/cult.
I am a Mother and Grandmother, and there is absolutely no way that child was in that house for almost two hours, with a corpse and a gunman, and the Mother and Grandmother were not completely freaking out. I think that Pastor shot himself in the foot, when he was honest about how he kept up with the investigators throughout the process. His arrogance just wouldn't let him keep his mouth shut. But I will give him this, he is smarter than the local police investigators......
