What in the name of Barney Fife are we working with here? After processing the latest info and some of the banter here, I’m just astounded at the (seemingly) blatant incompetence displayed by the MPD. I’m no law enforcement expert and admittedly there could be rational explanations for some of their actions, but on the surface it seems they really fouled this one up.
First of all... has anyone ever heard of a swat team knocking on a neighbor’s door in the middle of the night to take a look at the layout? Let alone knowing a child and an injured (if not dead) adult were still in the home. Does this actually happen? And how in the dark of night did they know that home was a mirror image? Just because it has a similar appearance doesn’t mean they are identical. Did someone tell them that? What made them believe this was a hostage situation? Did they encounter someone who may have told them that there was a mirror image home a few doors down?
Next... did the police question Brenda that night? Did they actually take a statement from her? With such bizarre circumstances, that seems like a pretty glaring boulder they didn’t bother to look under. Seems it would be reasonable to have followed a line of questioning that led from her “bad feeling” to why she chose Danielle’s house. With Angel at the Lawson’s house, why would she not ask to use their phone? Unless there was already police presence there and she needed to make a phone call away from any ears that may have been listening.
It would be interesting to see a timeline of all that went down that night... we know when the call went in to 911 and roughly when Brenda showed up, but what were her steps that night. Did she go to the Lawson’s before Danielle’s? So Brenda randomly showed up at Danielle’s, but how did the police end up there? Is it coincidence that the house Brenda chose happened to be the mirror image?
What in the world are we really dealing with here? I am not one to cave to conspiracy, but my word... this is just the craziest story.

Hello... Im going to try and answer your questions to the best of my ability. That night Brenda, from what she had said, did not pull onto our road bc the cops were already there but instead of putting her car in park and running to her child's home she decided to take the long way around the development and it circles back to Shepherd Hill Drive. Matt's home is directly across from Mike Lawson but my home is about 4 homes up the road and on the same side of the road as the Lawsons. I assumed that Brenda had been by the Lawson home bc when I asked about everyone else, her words befire I asked were "Angel has been shot", she told me that Hannah spent the night at Faith's, Josiah was with the Lawsons and Matt and Naomi were still in the house. She seemed more worried about Angel, who was already being patched up at LNRMC, than her 3yr old granddaughter who was inside the home and neither her nor Matt were coming out. I knew in my gut that Matt was gone if Naomi was not coming out. Anyway, I have NO idea why Brenda chose my home when Josiah was at the Lawsons and there were many homes inbetween. To answer the question about SWAT, Im not sure what protocal is but it was absurd to leave that child inside the home for over 1 1/2hrs. I never heard any talk of a hostage but I was there when an officer asked if anyone knew the layout. My home is an exact match to Matt's home. When we went to see homes in the neighborhood and picked that model Matt and Angel were kind enough to let the person from Ryan homes bring us through their home so we could see what ours would look like. The ONLY difference was everything was on the oppisite side....mirror image. I dont know if Brenda was questioned extensively that early morning but I know that her story changed from having a bad feeling about something and deciding to drive there without calling at that time in the night to she had abad feeling and she was bringing Hannah to the beach on the 10th so she decided to just go and drive there(also was her reason why she had hundreds of dollars on her if not more) to her stopping to get milk for them and going inside the home and leaving the door unlocked while she slept in her car. That last one was not her to me it was something I had read and heard. None of this makes sense. My new theory is that Matt was killed, by Brenda or by someone she hired, before Angel left the home. Hannah was 11 or 12 so they could not have her home. She NEVER slept away from home. If the story about going to the beach the next day was true then it seems odd that her parents would give in for the 1st time and allow her to sleep out when she was going to be leaving for a beach vacation in the morning. I feel like Naomi was fast asleep and her door was closed and Josiah was probably asleep and if not he wasnt more than 18mnths old so he wasnt going to be a witness. I think that Matt was killed, Brenda or the killer had time to make sure that no evidence was left, nobody heard gunshots bc of a silencer, Angel needed to be wounded so after she allowed someone to shoot her in the wrist they had time to leave without bringing attention to themselves or Brenda had time to shower and change, then Angel ran to the Lawsons and told the story of someone opening fire on them. In every interview she did her words were exactly the same.....like an actor remembering lines. She did, however, slip up and say that a man was at the foot of the bed then it changed to she saw a man's shadow. Also, I believe at first she said he wore a mask but then she was abke to give a description while under hypnosis. The extremely odd thing is the picture of the so called killer looks like my husband to a T. His friends teased him bc they saw the picture and called him saying his picture was in the paper and he was wanted for murder. Maybe she figured she had to give a description and bc for some unknown reason Brenda chose my home, which then became a makeshift police station/place for Matt's grieving family to sit and wait for info, so maybe Angel gave them that description to throw the police off bc my husband was there, in police presence the whole time.
