A lot of things with this case make absolutely no sense. Why wasn't there a bloody trail leaving the house? Who cleaned things up, or had time to if Matt was wrestling with a perpetrator when the 911 call was being made? So much of this makes no sense. Lord let the truth prevail!

There are so many things that I wish I would have paid attention to on the night Brenda knocked on the door. I was not thinking that my neighbor's mother in law would become the prime person who,IMHO,at the very least, knows very important parts and at the worst, had Matt killed. It was definitely not a professional. They are in and out. They dont stick around to kill a deadman. They were in debt so nobody would rob them and there are bigger homes. I told what I remembered. A lot was fuzzy after 10yrs by but i know that i was offered 300 to use my phonre. Im 100% on that, i know Brenda said matt and Naomi were inside way after she made her call or calls. It was someone in a rage and who either hated Matt that much or was told to do an overkill. I am thinking ,10yrs later, of anything i may remember so i can try to bring these evil people to justice. Suicide by cop is too easy. These people need to sit alone 23hrs a day, everyday alone in a cell until they die or get killed in jail. Let them eat that meat protein loaf that inmates in the hole eat. Im normally not heartless but Matt was a wonderful person. I dont care what he did before bc we all do things to survive or we get in with the wrong people. That is what the killers want everyone to focus on....Matt sold drugs in highschool! He turned his life around 360'. People keep saying "this makes no sense"....no murder makes sense. :

Hello! I am from Statesville, NC and someone sent me this podcast because my brother was murdered at Myrtle Place Apartments in Statesville September of 2011. I have never heard about Matt’s murder I find this story very interesting and has some similarities to ours as the Police Dept should be investigated. We are different from this family as we have balloon release, memorials of all types, golf tournaments and invite the media to continue to do stories to keep his name alive and keep people talking about his case. My mother went to the AG and had his case moved to the Sheriffs Dept due to the negligence of the Statesville PD. We have made many attempts to bring in outside agencies and cold case specialists without much luck. We know who my brother met the night of his murder he even left a voicemail on a friends vm stating if anything happened to him this is who he was meeting. Still NO arrest or even person of interest have been brought forward. My prayers go out to this family as having someone taken from you in this manner completely changes your life and turns everything upside down. Unless you go through this tragic of a situation you don’t understand the pain and hurt one goes through. It’s not like they were in an accident, had cancer and died someone took it in their own hands to take his life. We never identified my brother or were there with him during his last moments, because no one informed us and once we were informed we were told his body had already been sent for autopsy. Our family started a homicide support group for families of murdered victims. We meet each month with others just like us that hurt the same and know what each other are going through.

Steve - Hey! I've listened to all the podcasts (I think) and just started reviewing stuff here on the forum. I do have a question. Has anyone ever considered how Angel managed to finish her bachelor's degree in nursing on time? According to her LinkedIn profile, she was enrolled in the Gardner-Webb nursing program from 2008-2010 and earned her bachelor's in 2010. I would think the emotional strain of losing a husband would at least put one behind in earning that degree. Has Freddie attempted to talk to any of her classmates from that time period?

I am new to the forum - I grew up in Mooresville from 4th grade through 12th grade, and went to school with Matt and his sister. This is such a horrendous loss, and I can't imagine still waiting for justice after all these years. So many inconsistencies in this case. Is the entire timeline of events based on Angel's recounting of events? One of the Q&A sessions discussed how the killer could have escaped without a trace in the three minutes between Angel escaping the home and the police arriving. What if the killing had already happened before she went to the neighbor's house, allowing the killer ample time to get away? Since no one heard or saw anything, there is no one else to dispute her timeline. I also remember Freddie saying that Angel stated she heard what was thought to be the final shot as she ran out the door - yet, no neighbors heard a thing, no neighborhood dogs reacting to the gunshots?? Just a thought.
Thank you for the forum, so much great info here!

Hello, new to the forum. Just started listening, about to finish The Third Circle episode. I heard about this podcast from the Unresolved podcast. This is a fascinating case and I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the episodes and combing through the forum. Thanks for the forum and the podcast!
