Just thinking here, could the killer/killers have lived in the neighborhood and that’s why they were gone so fast? Has this been thought of or mentioned? Like I said just a thought I had.

Ten years later it dawned on me that everything you listed as planned points to Matt being killed before Angel went to the Lawson's. I cannot help but think that in the 4 minutes this killer or killers had, they would be able to fight with Matt to the extent that his defensive wounds indicate, kill him after many gunshots and stab wounds, make sure that there was not ANY evidence left behind, knowing that now a neighbor had been woken up and getting out of the home unnoticed would be likely. I am really leaning to the possibility that everything was planned and the finishing touches like Angel's wrist were the only things that happened in the spur of the moment. There was no way she would have been able to tell this story of someone opening fire without some type of injury. If the killer had the element of surprise and Angel is telling everything truthfully I don't understand how she was able to grab her son and run downstairs and out the door. It would have been so easy for a "very tall man" with multiple weapons to stop a 5' 125lb woman with a child in her arms then get back to fighting with Matt. If it was just to kill them they both would have had a bullet to the head or chest. Just speculating after years of feeling like they got away with murder. Not to mention, if Matt put up the fight they say he did, the murderer(s) would have blood evidence on them. Being shot and stabbed, the bedroom/bathroom has been described as a horrible bloody mess, an assailant would have been covered as well in the physical struggle. If they are coming through that burm, even if it wasn't as overgrown as it is now, you'd think that some kind of physical evidence would have been left behind indicating an escape route. Blood trail, etc, even if it's only Matt's blood. The quick turn around time from the time Angel was shot and fled the house to the cops arriving, an assailant would have to leave in a hurry to be gone by the time the cops arrived, which would mean no time to be careful about not trailing evidence, not leaving footprints in the house, etc. I mean, assuming the timeline we have been given is the actual time line.
I've heard very little discussed in terms of physical evidence besides the lack of it, like shell casings. Is it definitive that there was no physical evidence that showed an escape route? It just baffles me that in what was supposed to be a fight between Matt and the shooter(s), that there wouldn't be a trail left through the rest of the house and along an escape route as the murderer(s) left.

I struggle with the timeline on so many levels. Not to mention, time of death is not recorded on the reports. Given that and the fact that the police piddled around at the other house for a couple of hours, I think there’s a good chance that the timeline we “know” isn’t accurate. The police were in the neighborhood in 4 minutes... there was a bloody fight, and seemingly no evidence of anyone leaving the house other than the one who escaped the violence. Seems awfully odd...

We lived in Gabriel Estates at the time and very near Matt and Angela. There was numerous large overgrown bush type plants planted on the berm. Were these ever searched for weapons or shell casings? We kept our berm mowed but others did not and were overgrown. We don't remember ever seeing any police back there the day of the murder.

There is no evidence in the berm.
The criminal left (possibly) hours before the cops arrived.
Right out the front door and into a vehicle in broad day light.
That's why there was no evidence found. It was cleaned up. That's why no one heard the multiple gunshots. That's why no one saw someone fleeing the scene.
Because, they were long gone.
